2019 Concerts
2019 is the 170th anniversary of Fredrick Chopin’s death, to commemorate this, the first and last Lucas Parklands Winter concerts will feature dedications to maestro Chopin – the most lyrical of all musical poets.
Lucas Parklands is proud to introduce Polish pianist Zofia Lalak to Australia.
Zofia will perform two recitals featuring Chopin rarities and her favourite romantic piano works including;
Beethoven:
Sonata No. 30 Op. 109, written when Chopin was 10 and made prominent by Chopin’s good friend Franz Liszt who also transcribed his Polish songs for piano.
Rachmaninoff:
a selection of his Preludes, these shorter works are written in the style of Chopin’s preludes and will be performed later in the year by Konstantin Shamray (September 29), being part two of the Chopin dedication.
Bach/Busoni:
Chaconne.
Chopin:
Selected by Zofia, Chopin’s Polish songs are beautifully transcribed for piano by Liszt and rarely performed. They combine Chopin’s melodic gifts with Liszt’s elegant pianism and typify Chopin’s artistry.
